Castle Reifenstein
Today it's owened by earl of Thurn and Taxis. It's one of the best preserved castles of South Tyrol and very interesting regarding historical arts. It was built in the 11th century on a hill above Sterzing. The small church St. Zeno belongs to its surroundings. Close to the church, many bajuwaric tree trunk coffins from the 4th to the 8th century have been found.The highlight of the castle is the late-gothic GREEN HALL, ornamental paintings and an artistic wooden fence. A visit will show you interesting things, like the torture chamber, the dungeon, the court room, loop-holes and the trap door.
